Assessment

Keeping in mind The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Book of the Dead, and Adoration of the Disk, select one of the assessments below. Each response should be either 2 stanzas or 2 paragraphs, 8-10 sentences (or lines) each.

Choice # 1

Go to  www.bookofdead.com.

Go to the interactive plates on the website.

Choose one of the poems and independently identify the speaker, tone, and belief in the afterlife. (2 lines)

Write your own Book of the Dead poem. You may choose Osiris, or another character from any text we have read,  and follow the guidelines above. (14-18 lines)

Choice #2

Complete an autobiographical papyrus scroll.

Respond to the following questions and write your own autobiographical papyrus scroll. Use the scrolls on www.bookofdead.com as an example.

A)    What would you like people to find written about you when they open your tomb thousands of years from now? (1 paragraph)

B)   Would you leave instructions about how to bury you, your feelings on this current life, what you expect out of the next life? (1 paragraph)
